Here’s the Proof – Some Pay More than Others

Are you aware that the current pricing policy in some stores discriminates against the disadvantaged and most vulnerable individuals in OUR community?

Retailers support and promote the “twofer” concept which provides special reduced pricing for multiple purchases of the same product or brand. This type of pricing is promoted as a “price reduction” or a “sale price” or a “special”. But what it really means is unfair pricing for any individual who wants to purchase only one item on that particular day. Therefore, it is PRICE DISCRIMINATION.

$4 each for two, but $6.49 for one – that’s 62% more

Help us STOP this type of PRICE DISCRIMATION now – because it hurts the most disadvantaged: the poor, the elderly, the homeless, and some people who are injured or handicapped.

If these individuals want to buy only a single product because that is all they can afford or carry that day – they will pay more for the product than the other customers will.

Prices for a single item can be between 9% and 62% higher

To demonstrate how much multi-value pricing hurts the consumer who cannot afford to buy more than one, I photographed and tracked almost 100 prices from December 2021 until March 2023.

These are the results of my shopping trips:

Where would a homeless person store a second smoothie or an extra block of cheese? But they are being penalized for buying only one?

Soup, crackers and cereals are staples in most households. Why should they cost 40% more for some people? And where will they put the extras until they can use them?

If an elderly person lives alone – why should they pay 17% more for bread and have two loaves going stale in their kitchen? A normal loaf will make seven sandwiches. That’s good for a whole week.

It is so simple – just reduce the price and make it FAIR for EVERYONE

The Answer is Simple

If a retailer decreases the sale price of an individual item. An individual will pay $X for that item – and save $X. Everyone pays the same price.

If a shopper with a large family or someone who has plenty of storage wants to save more money – they can buy 2, or 3, or 10. They can buy multiples and still pay the same price per item as the person who buys only a single item.

Speak out about price discrimination and make sure that EVERYONE gets FAIR PRICES in OUR community…
